I’m not sure this quite lived up to expectations. I do think the textures of dead and dying flowers can be very beautiful but I’m not sure I did the best job of capturing them here.
I bought the IGPOTY book a while back and it inspired these photos. It really is worth getting, it has a very broad range of photographs in it and really is quite inspiring.
I took this photo at 10pm in the evening in an underpass. I think passers by must have wondered what the hell I was doing. I guess you can take it as slightly tongue in cheek but I felt it had a certain resonance.
Some friends bought these lilies for me. It may seem a little macabre but white lilies are my favourite flowers, I love the texture and form of them. So inevitably I photographed them.
No prizes for guessing the inspiration for these photos. This wood really surprised me and the bright but overcast day gave ideal lighting. Somewhere I must go back to.
These are not actually dandelion seeds, they’re very similar but about twice as big. I deliberately let the odd one grow in the garden because the seed heads are so appealing.
And indeed he delivers photographically speaking. I’m continually enticed by churches, I think it’s the symbolism that appeals to me so much and the peace and solitude.
